You bought a car. The steps, in order.
You signed the contract and you have the keys. Now comes the paperwork, and the order matters if you want to avoid wasted trips.
1. Check the contract carefully
The seller’s details, your details and the car’s details must match the documents exactly. One wrong letter or a missing signature is only spotted at the counter, and you are sent home.
If the contract is not written yet, we fill it in at our office, with the details checked against the documents.
2. RCA insurance in your name
The car cannot be registered without valid RCA in the new owner’s name, and without a policy you are not allowed to drive. We prepare quotes from several insurers, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.
3. Declare it to the local tax office
The car is declared to the tax office of your locality, while the seller removes it from their records. The law sets a deadline and missing it is penalised, so do not postpone. We can handle it, including through the online platforms.
4. Registration in your name
Next comes the DRPCIV file. We prepare it, checked document by document, and you cross the street and hand it in. If you have no time, give us a notarised power of attorney and we go in your place.
5. Check the technical inspection
See how long the periodic technical inspection is valid for. If it expires soon, book it early so the car does not end up standing still.

Imported cars, cars bought from companies, leased cars and inherited cars have extra steps. Bring the car documents to our office and we take care of the order.
