FAQ
Frequently asked questions about car paperwork and RCA.
These are the questions we hear every day at the office. If your answer is not here, give us a call: it takes two minutes.
The office and opening hours
Where are you located?
At Șoseaua Pipera 46F, Serico Building, ground floor, room 6, directly opposite DRPCIV, the vehicle registration office.
What are your opening hours?
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 06:00 to 16:00, Wednesday 06:00 to 18:30, Friday 06:00 to 13:30. We are closed at the weekend.
Do I need an appointment?
No. You can come during opening hours. If you want to be sure you will not wait, call ahead.
How long have you been doing this?
For over 15 years. We are a family business and we work with the Pipera counters every day.
Can I ask you on WhatsApp?
Yes. Message us with the details of your car and we will answer there.
Car registration
What does preparing the file mean?
You bring the car documents to our office, we check them, fill in the applications and forms, and hand you the file ready to submit. You go straight to the counter.
What do I bring to the office?
Your car documents and your own documents. We take care of the rest.
Can I register the car without coming in person?
Yes. If you are a private individual, you give us a notarised power of attorney and we go to the counter for you.
The car was imported. Can you help?
Yes. Call us with the details of the car and we will tell you the steps in your case.
The car is owned by a company. Is that possible?
Yes. The documents differ from a private owner, so call us before you prepare anything.
How long does registration take?
It depends on your situation and on DRPCIV appointments. We will tell you over the phone what to expect.
Do you also prepare the sale-purchase contract?
Yes. We fill it in at the office with the details checked against the documents. After the contract, the car has to go through the local tax office, so registration does not happen the same day, but we help with every step.
Temporary plates
When do I need temporary plates?
When the car has to be driven before permanent registration. Call us and we will tell you whether this applies to you.
How long are they valid?
The period is set by law and depends on the situation. We will tell you exactly over the phone.
Can I drive abroad with them?
It depends on the country and the situation. Ask us before you set off.
Can I get them by power of attorney?
Yes. Private individuals can give us a notarised power of attorney and we handle everything.
Deregistration
When is deregistration needed?
For example when the car is sold abroad, scrapped or permanently taken off the road.
I sold my car abroad. What now?
Call us with the details of the sale. We prepare the deregistration file and help with the tax side too.
Do you help with local taxes as well?
Yes. We also remove the car from the local tax records, including through the online platforms.
Vehicle tax records
What does registering for tax mean?
It is declaring the car to the local tax office so that your vehicle tax can be calculated.
Can it be done online?
Yes, in many cases. We handle the filing through the online platforms.
I sold the car. Do I still pay tax?
No, once the car is removed from your tax records. We help with the steps so nothing stays in your name.
I bought a car. How soon must I declare it?
The law sets a deadline and missing it is penalised. Call us right after the purchase and we will tell you where you stand.
RCA car insurance
What periods can I take RCA for?
For 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. We calculate the quote for the period that suits you.
How do I get a quote?
Call us or message us on WhatsApp. We ask a few details about the car and prepare your quote.
Do you work with several insurers?
Yes. We compare the offers and recommend the right policy for your car.
Do I need RCA to register a car?
Yes, RCA insurance is required for registration. We can arrange it in the same place as your file.
Can I get RCA for temporary plates?
Yes. Call us and we will prepare the right quote.
My RCA has expired. What do I do?
Do not drive the car and call us. We issue a new policy and you are covered again.
Power of attorney
Who can give a power of attorney?
Private individuals who want us to represent them for temporary or permanent registration.
Where do I get it?
At a notary. Call us first and we will tell you what it needs to include, so you do not have to go twice.
What happens once I have it?
Bring us the power of attorney and the car documents and we take care of the rest. We let you know when everything is ready.
